Sammy Studios Readies Seven Samurai Action-adventure to pay homage to Akira Kurosawa's classic film
An ensemble cast of renowned artists and Akira Kurosawa's son are contributing to Sammy Studios' Seven Samurai 20XX, a third-person action adventure inspired by Kurosawa's classic film Seven Samurai.
Set in the far-flung future, Seven Samurai 20XX charges the samurai with freeing a city from armies of artificial humanoids, monsters, and more. At gamers' disposal are an arsenal of attacks and special moves that grow as they master the samurai way.
Scheduled for release in Q4 2003, this PlayStation 2 title features an all-star cast including Moebius, a world-famous artist and designer on such films as Fifth Element, Alien, and TRON; Ryuichi Sakamoto, the Academy Award-winning composer of The Last Emperor; and acclaimed film director Hisao Kurosawa, son of Akira Kurosawa.
Sammy Studios and designer DIMPS promise a large cast of characters, a creative story, and authentic action sequences folded into a classic samurai tale in a science - fiction setting.
The Southern California-based company is also excited about Lethal Skies II, by developer Asmik Ace. A sequel to the company's popular action flight-combat game released last spring on PS2, Lethal Skies II features seven new planes and an array of air, land, and sea-based enemies, including battle mechs and other giant futuristic attack vehicles.
Twenty new missions, including several unlockable campaigns, will be available in the game. Add to that levels in which gamers can fight as the enemy and Lethal Skies II should be even more exciting than the original. Look for its release at the end of the third quarter of 2003.
