For series co-creator Ed Boon, the sizzle of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is split two ways; the completeness of having all previous characters available, as well as the ability to create your own fighters.

"There have been a number of create-a-character modes in wrestling and boxing games but we wanted to expand on the areas players had control over," he says. "We thought it was important to let them define their attacks as well as the look of their fighters." That’s why Armageddon lets players set their fighting styles, right down to the attack associated with each button.

And with a fully-fledged online mode, Boon’s also psyched about how these two elements will work together. "It will really be interesting to see how people will play Armageddon online when they have about 60 existing characters to choose from as well as the ability to take their created fighter and go online against other created fighters," he says. "The idea of taking your created fighter online and seeing how they measure up to other players’ fighters is going to create the most exciting and unpredictable fighting experience ever."
