Welcome! We’re back at last!

Playstation3, Wii, Halo 3, Gears of War, Zelda, I can't STAND IT! If you're half as excited for E3Expo 2006 as I am, then you're sleepless and glued to your computer analyzing all the rumors. It's that time of year again if your parents are considering calling House M.D. to figure out what's wrong with you. It's like a week of Christmas, but worse, because it brings only the hopes and dreams of presents to come. This is it folks -- this is where our holiday wish lists come from.

This is a great gig -- covering E3 for everyone at home, on behalf of E3's show directors and the 400 exhibitors. I only wish it were more than one week out of 52. It seems to take forever to get here each year, and then it's over in a flash. It's a long, steady build-up to that one hectic week in May, with most of our work on this site consuming the past six months. The planning for E3Insider 2006 actually started last year, during E3 2005. You can be sure that the show directors are already working on E3 2007 and beyond. It really takes that long to plan, and that long to produce.

The past few months have been a wild ride picking through the ideas contributed by our users, our team, the Exhibitors, and the E3 show directors. Some of those ideas are reflected here as entirely new features, like Virtual E3 and E3TV, while others are reflected as enhancements like the improved Video Player and the ability to Send FanCam a question. We chose ideas that will best answer the question "How can this help tell people at home what's going on at E3?" I bet you'll agree that we've made tremendous progress bringing more ofthe E3 experience to you. Personally, I'm really excited about the new site. My favorite new feature for 2006 is Virtual E3. I think you'll have a ton of fun picking through all the panoramas we create this year from the floor. Connecting the panoramas to the show floormaps and offering you a description of each location really helps explain what you're seeing and how it relates to the show. I've never seen another feature like it.

But let's get into the E3 stuff. We're launching early this year to give you a head start with the gametrailers, screenshots, and articles. We also threw in some of our favorite Floored and FanCam episodes from 2005 for you to enjoy and help build some excitement for what's to come. I recommend you grab the blog RSS feed so you can keep in touch with everything that happens over the next two weeks because we have a lot of updates coming. For example, we will launch the E3TV player about a week before the first press event, and you're going to want to download that. We'll have a few things to discuss like Into The Pixel and the three press events from Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony. We should have a podcast or two that you can only get through the blog, too.

We also have a couple of E3Insider-related components out there for you to checkout. First, our myspace profile is www.myspace.com/e3insider and we welcome you to our circle of myspace friends. We just launched it so check it out and tell everyone you know about it. I also have a 'lens' at Squidoo - http://www.squidoo.com/e3/ - which is worth checking out because it has some additional news feeds in it.

It won't be long now. Try to get some sleep. I'll catch you later.
