Stealing Success
Thief franchise returns to top Eidos action slate

"Dark shadows" might be a more apt description of the third installment in the Thief series, Thief: Deadly Shadows (PC, Xbox) from Ion Storm. Garrett, the master of stealth, returns, but he is unalterably linked to a prophecy that places the city under an ominous threat. Third-person as well as first-person perspectives are featured, along with a new dynamic lighting and shadow system through which each character and object casts dynamic shadows that affect stealth gameplay.

Seedier and much more ignoble thievery in the gang underworld of today is what 25 to Life is all about. This action game for PlayStation 2 and Xbox will support online multiplay on both platforms.

This summer, ShellShock: Nam 67 (PC, PS2, Xbox) captures the hard realities of the Vietnam War from the perspective of a young draftee. Developed by Guerrilla, gamers experience the fear and chaos of the conflict, including the napalm bombardments of civilian villages and gruesome Vietcong booby traps.

Other games to be unveiled in greater detail at E3 include a new PC real-time strategy game from Pyro, Imperial Glory; an action title set in the Deus Ex universe from Ion Storm for PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox; and a fall update to the popular wrestling series from Paradox Development, Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes the Neighborhood.
