On the Front Lines
Codemasters pushes big military titles

In recent months, Codemasters has shown off such promising titles as Wartime Command: Battle for Europe 1939-1945 (PC), Soldiers: Heroes of World War II (PC), and Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, a new version of Operation Flashpoint made specifically for Xbox. All are on display at E3.

Wartime Command, slated for a Q3 2004 release, uses the IL-2 Sturmovik flight-sim engine to create a highly detailed real-time strategy game. Soldiers, due in June, is aiming to take a more action-oriented approach to squad-based strategy. Operation Flashpoint is set to ship in the fall with full Xbox Live support, a host of single-player missions, and a mission editor that players can use to create their own incursions.

Hip-hopping over to the club scene is MTV Music Generator 3: This is the Remix. Developer Mixmax will have PS2 and Xbox versions of the DJ-wannabe game ready to ship this June. This version will allow players to create songs, sample music from their own collections, and remix some of today's hottest songs from hip-hop and electronica artists. Songs include OutKast's "The Way U Move," Snoop Dogg's "From tha Chuuuch to da Palace," and "Get Busy" from dance hall reggae star Sean Paul.
