SEGA Melds Two Famous Strategy Franchises

At E3 2015, SEGA Games Co., Ltd confirmed that the latest title in its acclaimed Total War series is to be set among the high fantasy of Games Workshop's Warhammer universe. Long-rumored as a possibility, this crossover marks the first time that the beloved Total War series of turn-based strategy games will be set in a fictional milieu.

The Total War series' hallmark is its deep, challenging gameplay, which tasks players with statecraft, economics, military strategy, and diplomacy, but also with tactical challenges at the battlefield level. Now, in addition to spearmen and cavalry, those tactical challenges will include commanding gigantic monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes, and storms of magical power--all drawn from the rich mythos of Warhammer.

Four playable races vie for supremacy of Total War: Warhammer's Old World, each with their own unique abilities, units, ethos, and goals: valiant Men, stoic Dwarves, brutal Greenskins, and inscrutable Vampire Counts. Whichever race players choose, SEGA promises hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Additionally, SEGA has announced that Total War: Warhammer is the first part of a trilogy: Two standalone installments of additional content will plug into the original game, creating a massive experience for strategy fans. Since those fans have been eagerly anticipating this crossover for years, E3 2015 is sure to be exciting for them, and all strategy aficionados, thanks to SEGA.
